Road Repair Season jumps into full swing this week, with a little something for everyone frequenting Sheboygan County roads and highways to know about.
First, the Highway 32 reconstruction project is officially underway between Sheboygan and Sheboygan Falls. The first segment involves the closure of 32 between County Highway “D”, or Union Avenue in Cedar Grove, and County Road “V” north of Gibbsville. The 4-5 month operation will detour traffic along I-43 and “V” to bypass the project.
In addition, utility operations on Highway 32 between South Commerce Street and Willow Avenues in Cedar Grove will force the routing of heavy commercial traffic onto I-43 and County “AA” to bypass, while local residents will have access maintained.
Smaller maintenance projects also dot the schedule this week, with beam guard repairs being done on westbound Highway 23 between Ridge Road and County “A”. Those take place Wednesday and Thursday this week between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., with lane closures employed to control traffic flow.
I-43 beam guard repairs will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day Monday through Thursday this week. Those involve northbound lanes at Wilson Lima Road, both directions of travel at Weeden Creek Road, and northbound I-43 between Highway 28 and County “PP”.
