KENOSHA, WI (WSAU) — Democratic Presidental nominee Joe Biden and his wife will visit Kenosha on Thursday to hold community discussions aimed at helping people heal following a week of violent protests.
Biden’s press team says the discussions will also be directed towards helping America “address the challenges we all face” in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake.
The former VP’s itinerary also includes a “local stop,” though it’s not clear where that will take place. Officials say details of the visit are still being worked out.
The visit comes two days after President Trump toured the damage and met with police officers on Tuesday. Trump also announced federal aid for the businesses impacted by the protests, along with money to help the Kenosha Police Department.
Trump did meet with the Blake family’s pastor while in Kenosha but did not meet with the Blake family themselves. It’s unclear if Biden will include the Blake family in his visit.
This is the first visit Biden will make to Wisconsin since becoming the Democratic nominee for President. He did not attend the DNC, which was based in Milwaukee but featured many virtual speakers.
