Turns out that farmers who rent cropland in Wisconsin are paying a little more this year. The Wisconsin Ag Statistics Service figured out the numbers for 2020 land rent prices and the average acre costs $138. To put that in perspective, that’s one dollar higher than last year.
LaFayette County had the most expensive rent, on average charging $227/acre. Grant County came in second, Green in third, and Rock County in fourth for the most expensive land rent prices this year. On the other hand, the cheapest rent was found for $22/acre in Douglas County.
When it came to renting pasture land, prices in the state went down by five dollars to an average of $35/acre.
