A garage fire that could have spread to surrounding structures was quickly controlled by Sheboygan firefighters on Wednesday.
Sheboygan Fire Department Battalion Chief Chase Longmiller said they were called out at about 5:20 p.m. to address a structure fire in the 1400 block of MacArthur Avenue on the City’s far north side. Within 3 minutes of that call, firefighters were on the scene of a detached garage that was fully involved in flames.
It took only five minutes for the fire to be extinguished, preventing the spread of flames to adjacent homes, and the scene was cleared within an hour of the initial call.
Nobody was injured, but in that short amount of time, it’s estimated that $20,000 damage was caused to the now-destroyed structure. A cause has not yet been determined.
