A driver that was intoxicated enough to draw calls to law enforcement from casual observers was arrested on Tuesday after swerving down Village of Kewaskum streets, then bolting out of town while being chased.
Reports from a passerby who observed a vehicle driving erratically through the Village alerted Kewaskum Police, who quickly located the subject traveling northbound on Fond du Lac Avenue. The officer reported the driver swerving all over the road, striking the curb several times.
A traffic stop was attempted, however the subject instead sped up to around 80 mph as the vehicle continued northbound on Highway 45 into Fond du Lac County, ignoring the officer’s attempts to pull them over. The driver eventually lost control, spun out and crashed into a ditch.
The driver, who escaped injury, did not escape the police, who arrested them for Fleeing and Eluding, OWI 4th Offense, Driving on a Revoked License, and numerous traffic violations during the course of the event. The State Patrol assisted in the crash scene investigation, which is ongoing, and criminal charges have been referred to the Washington County DA’s Office.
