An ice jam on the Sheboygan River caused levels to rise on Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Warning until Friday afternoon.
Waters that held a level of 3.34 feet at 9 p.m. on Tuesday began to rise, eventually reaching 7.78 feet at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, just short of an official “Minor Flooding” category of 8 feet. At, or shortly after that point, it appears that the ice jam had broken, with levels falling below “Action Stage” by 1 p.m.
Confirmed levels were expected to cause minor lowland flooding in the Sheboygan area. Floodwaters would likely have covered docks and piers in Sheboygan.

With the rapid decline in levels, it’s not expected that the flooding will cause lasting impacts.
