It didn’t take long for fire to do $35,000 in damage to a south side Sheboygan home, but neither did it take long for the Sheboygan Fire Department to respond to, and bring the situation under control.
The first calls reporting the fire in the 1000 Block of Clara Avenue came in at 1:36 p.m., initiating a full-department response. The first units arrived on the scene within just over four minutes – by that time smoke could be seen coming from the house’s second floor – and a hose line was immediately deployed there. Meanwhile, SFD crews entered the structure and located fire inside the walls. The SFD says that thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of the fire crews, the fire was quickly extinguished and the situation brought under control shortly after their arrival.

Crews remained on the scene for about 30 minutes to ensure there were no remaining hot spots and were able to leave about an hour after arriving. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and there were no injuries to report.

The Sheboygan Fire Department reminds the community of the importance of working smoke alarms, and of having an emergency escape plan in place.
