The National Weather Service shortened the original advisory and changed the nature of what Mother Nature was planning to dish out on Monday. The changes come as an anticipated freezing drizzle event fizzled, and expectations for a period of snow drew increased attention for the forecasters.
Light snow began around 1 p.m. in the Sheboygan area, and had the potential to accumulate up to two inches before ending this evening. The slippery surfaces that would result prompted the Winter Weather Advisory that’s in effect until 8 p.m. for snowfall and resulting hazardous roadways.
Precipitation was expected to end by 8 p.m., leaving dry conditions in place through Christmas Day and into Friday, when rain may begin falling in the early morning hours. Temperatures should remain at or below freezing until midday Wednesday, and could approach highs in the upper 40s by Saturday.
