Gladys Lydia Hamann (Lorenz), age 88, of the Town of Sheboygan Falls, WI, passed away on December 18, 2024. She was born on September 20, 1936 in a farm home in the Town of Herman in Franklin, WI to the late Herman and Lydia (Weber) Lorenz Wiegel.
She married Charles Hamann on September 7, 1957 at Salem Plankroad United Church of Christ, where they both were confirmed. After her confirmation, Gladys was involved in the church choir and Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday school.
She was involved in 4-H. She belonged to the singing group called “The Dairy Maids”. They sang together for many years for farm functions, and even appeared on WBAY-TV for a performance.
Gladys attended Bonnie View Country School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked at Kohler Company for 6 years. When Charles eventually took over the family farm, they farmed until 1995 when they sold their cows due to Charles’ health. Gladys additionally worked at Marshall’s Express for 6 years and then the Plymouth Walmart for 13 years, retiring in 2013.
Gladys loved having a big garden that she could harvest and can vegetables from. She loved to work at the Plymouth races on Saturday nights, sew for her family, and scrapbooking.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Charles; one daughter, Susan (James) Kieffer of Sheboygan; and one son, David of Sheboygan Falls; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lydia; step-father, Fred Wiegel; father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Amanda Hamann; six brothers, Herman Jr. Lorenz, Walter (Marion) Lorenz, Alfred (Marie) Lorenz, Donald Lorenz, Harold Lorenz, and Robert (Marlene) Lorenz of Plymouth; and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Elroy) Hanke.
Visitation will be held on Monday (December 23, 2024) at the Suchon Funeral Home from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM; with a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Pastor Dale Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Saron UCC Cemetery in Johnsonville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salem Plankroad United Church in memory of Gladys.
