The City of Plymouth is poised to improve its housing situation with the announcement of a grant from the State of Wisconsin. The announcement came Wednesday morning from Governor Evers, who revealed the winners in the latest round of competitive funding for the Vacancy-to-Vitality, Restore Main Street, and Infrastructure Access loan programs administered by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA).
WHEDA CEO and Executive Director Elmer Moore Jr., said that since the program’s inception, the three funds have helped create 967 units in rural and urban areas of Wisconsin, with over $16.3 million in all made available since being included in the 2023-25 biennial budget.
The Plymouth Project was included in the Infrastructure Access award, with about $3.4 million headed to the Hub City in the form of a loan to support adding another 94 housing units. According to a recently-completed housing study done by the City, the Infrastructure Access Loan allows a developer and a governmental unit to apply for a loan to help cover the cost of installing, replacing, upgrading or improving public infrastructure related to workforce housing or senior housing. The interest rate in Plymouth would be 1% over a 35 year term.
