With I-41 in Fond du Lac County experiencing significant traffic – of the illegal kind – another traffic stop has nabbed another Milwaukee felon.
This one happened at around 4:15 a.m. Monday when a reckless driver was observed going northbound on I-41 in the Town of Byron south of the City of Fond du Lac, beginning a chase. Seeing the lights and hearing the sirens, the driver decided to elude the pursuing officer, speeding down I-41 until exiting at Johnson Street. After a short distance, however, the vehicle took several streets on its way to County Road “OO” where it failed to make a curve, becoming immobile on the steep shoulder, and ending the 8-1/2 mile chase. A high-risk stop was completed by the deputy who took the driver and a passenger into custody. The passenger, a 35-year-old Milwaukee man was released without charges, but the driver was jailed. The 37-year-old Milwaukee man had two warrants outstanding and now faces additional charges of felony fleeing and eluding, reckless endangering safety, felon in possession of a firearm and operating while impaired.
