(WHBL) – Attending adult school as the parent of a school-age child often depends on the child’s school, and pandemic-related schedules and closures can make it hard for the parent to continue with classes. To address those needs, Lakeshore Technical College has received approval to expand capacity at its on-site Child Care Center beginning today. The drop-in center provides care for children ages 7-12 so their parents can continue attending classes on campus if their child’s school is closed.
LTC’s Dean of Health and Human Services Dr. Chris Schatz noted that many adult students already juggle work and family while attending LTC, and don’t need still more obstacles preventing them from pursuing a degree.
The 7-12 year old care is in addition to LTC’s traditional services for children 2-6 years old, which will still be available to LTC students and employees.
