The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has released monthly employment and unemployment statistics for October.
Given figures not seasonally adjusted, the Sheboygan Metropolitan Statistical Area experienced a monthly gain of 200 in its work force for a total of 64,100 employed in October, representing 500 more than the same month in 2023.
Across Wisconsin, preliminary October 2024 unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 10 metropolitan areas over the month, with Sheboygan’s rate stable at 2.2% month-over month, 0.2% lower than 2023.
Regarding municipalities, rates decreased or stayed the same in 23 of Wisconsin’s largest 35 cities over the month, while rates decreased or stayed the same in 33 cities over the year. For Sheboygan, October’s 2.4% unemployment rate ranked 8th-best among the 35 Cities rated; 0.1% less than September and a 0.4% reduction over September 2023.
Preliminary October 2024 unemployment rates among Wisconsin’s 72 Counties decreased or stayed the same in 54 over last month, while rates compared to the past year decreased in 70 counties. Sheboygan County experienced a steady 2.2% rate month-over-month, while 2023’s rate came in at 2.4%. In the cases of Door, Forest, Langlade, Oconto, Pepin and Rock Counties, record-low rates were either achieved or matched.
