Though conflict might seem far-removed from one’s home or neighborhood, Samaritan’s purse is encouraging donations from those enjoying relative safety and peace in order that they might provide a bit of much-needed relief from those others suffering from war, poverty, disease and disaster.
Since 1993, the international organization has committed to reaching across borders to deliver gift-filled shoeboxes to children, perhaps as many as 12 million in 2024, as they profess their driving force: “with the hope of Jesus.”
President of Samaritan’s Purse, Franklin Graham, the son of well-known evangelist Billy Graham, has spearheaded the collection that benefits children who “…need to know that they are not alone and God loves them.”
Those wishing to contribute to the effort locally are able to do so during the National Collection Week, underway now through November 25th. Among the more than 4,700 drop-off locations, Sheboygan’s Crossroads Community Church will be collecting contributions at their campus, just south of Deer Trace at 4321 County Road “A”.
