Rosanne Thompson, 87, formerly of Southfield, MI, passed away Monday afternoon, November 11, 2024, at Harvest Home Assisted Living in Howards Grove, surrounded by her family.
Born June 21, 1937, in Chicago, IL, Rosanne was a daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Abbruzino) Bombino. She attended Chicago area schools and graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School West and continued her education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. On October 25, 1959, she was united in marriage to Georg A. Vihos.
Rosanne was an art teacher for 40 years at The Roeper School in Bloomfield Hills, MI, retiring in 2007. She had an impact on hundreds of students and fostered independent thinking and the joy of creating art. She attended First Congregational Church in Sheboygan and enjoyed the beauty in nature, reading, knitting, and painting. She took great pride in and deeply loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Vihos, Sheboygan, and Illia (Stephan) Mazurek, Chicago, IL; her former son-in-law Michael Hoover, Sheboygan, her three grandchildren, Kaleb Mazurek and Ella Mazurek, both of Chicago, and Owen Vihos-Hoover, Sheboygan; her sister, Linda Nawrot, Glen Ellyn, IL; and extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Georg Vihos and Fred Thompson; her brothers, Frank and Anthony Bombino; and her sister, Vanita Nelson.
A memorial service for Rosanne will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund for The Roeper School has been established in her name.
