Preparations are just about wrapped up and the main event – the 2024 General Election – has voters sorting through their choices, ready to put the wraps on a long, contentious campaign season.
Eight candidates in all are on the Presidential ballot, with most attention on Democrats Kamala Harris and Tim Walz facing Republicans Donald Trump and JD Vance for President and Vice President. Robert F. Kennedy, Junior wasn’t able to get his name off the ballot after giving his support to the Trump ticket, and there are also candidates for the Constitution, Libertarian, Wisconsin Green, Justice for All, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation on the ballot.
The race for US Senate is primarily between Democrat Tammy Baldwin and Republican Eric Hovde, but again two minor party candidates are also in the contest: Phil Anderson of the “Disrupt the Corruption” party and Thomas Leager of the “America First” party.
The 6th US Congressional District contest is between Democrat John Zarbano of Oshkosh and Incumbent Republican Glenn Grothman of Glenbeulah.
Sheboygan County hosts four State Assembly Districts. In the 25th District, Democrat Stephen Welch of Two Rivers goes against Incumbent Republican Paul Tittl of Manitowoc…that district extends into northeastern Sheboygan County. Much of the City of Sheboygan is In the 26th District where, Democrat Joe Sheehan is challenging Republican Amy Binsfeld, formerly the Incumbent in the old 27th before redistricting. The 27th District pits Democrat Kay Ladson of Fond du Lac against Lindee Rae Brill, the Republican from Sheboygan Falls. In the 59th Assembly District of southern Sheboygan County, Democrat Jack Holzman of Belgium is facing off against Republican Robert Brooks of Saukville.
Sheboygan County District Attorney, Joel Urmanski, a Republican, is running unopposed for that constitutional position.
County-wide, there are uncontested races for County Clerk, Treasurer, and Register of Deeds.
