Sheboygan Police Chief Christopher Domagalski has announced his retirement, effective on January 21, 2025, with his last day of work on January 20th. His letter of retirement to Mayor Sorenson and City Administrator Bradley, dated October 29th, was sent by Chief Domagalski to WHBL News on Monday morning.
Within his official announcement, Domagalski said that he was “…very thankful to have had the opportunity to work with the remarkable men and women who make up Sheboygan Police Department. I know very well the sacrifices they make, as well as the positive impact they have daily on the quality of life in our neighborhoods. I am confident in the leadership team that we have in place at the Police Department, and I look forward to watching them work to increase community safety while adapting to the challenges the future will bring.”
Christopher Domagalski was sworn in as Chief of Police in Sheboygan in January of 2010. In 2920, Chief Domagalski expressed his desire to resign his position in order to pursue a job with the Milwaukee Police Department, although he did that without formally submitting a letter of intent. Ultimately, the Chief remained with the SPD for another four years until his announcement last week.
Domagalski finished his retirement message by addressing the people of Sheboygan by saying: “Lastly, I greatly appreciate the many partners and residents that have stepped up over the years to work with and alongside us to create a safe and vibrant community. Community safety, security and well-being are a community wide effort and responsibility. I recognize that I have been blessed to work in a very special place.”
