SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The presence of coronavirus in the area has prompted cancellations and postponements in several civic areas, and as of Friday afternoon the numbers were growing.
The Stephanie H. Weill Center has emptied its schedule through at least the end of the month according to Ticket Office Manager Lynette Rakun, and most of April’s schedule has yet to be addressed.
The Mead Public Library has canceled all library-sponsored programs and events through Sunday, April 12th in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Communications Specialist for the library Josh Lintereur said that the decision was made in the interests of guests, staff and volunteers alike, and that library programs will be reevaluated in April. He emphasized that this affects library-sponsored events only; the library remains open and that all public room reservations remain in place.
Also, the Blue Line Indoor Ice Bowling Classic has cancelled this year’s event. In a statement, the organizers attribute the move to the recent confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County, and stated that they will not take the chance of further spreading the disease.
