As fate would have it, a long, dry spell of weather will be broken just in time for Halloween in Wisconsin. A somewhat scary forecast precedes the holiday on Wednesday, as a dose of summer weather is forcibly displaced by a more-typical autumn air mass, with the main battle between the two taking place here on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. That battle could produce thunderstorms containing damaging winds and heavy rain, while the chance of an isolated tornado somewhere in the state can’t be ruled out.
National Weather Service forecasters indicate that Sheboygan is most vulnerable to rain and thunderstorms between 3 and 9 a.m. on Thursday, with the actual threat of rain beginning by 6 p.m. Wednesday. If thunderstorms develop, they’re most likely to be found anywhere from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. on Thursday. After that, a chance of scattered rain showers will linger into the nighttime hours, while winds become gusty as high as 40 mph from the west. Those winds will be driving temperatures down from morning highs in the mid 60s to trick-or-treat temps near 50 degrees, and create wind chills sinking into the 30s after dark.
