A man from southern Manitowoc County is in jail, accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of copper wire.
Mark Plagemann of the Town of Schleswig was arrested last week after a nearly three-weeks-long investigation by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office led them to file charges of Theft, Criminal Damage to Property, Trespassing, Possession of Burglary Tools and a Probation Violation. He appeared in court for a bail hearing last Thursday where the Judge added an enhancer for being a habitual offender. In all, Plagemann is accused of taking more than $30,000 worth of copper wire from a local business, and bail was set at $2500.
Authorities are still investigating, and are asking the public to call Crimestoppers or the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office with additional information.

Callers with information leading to the arrest of other person(s) responsible or involved with these thefts could become eligible to receive a reward of up to $500 by calling Crime Stoppers at (920) 683-4466 or by utilizing the P3 App. Tipsters may remain anonymous if they choose.
