Those wishing to contribute their input on how the City of Sheboygan uses grant money for the next five years have until Thursday to add their voices. The City’s Planning and Development Department is conducting a Community Needs Survey, the results of which will guide the setting of priorities for the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and allocation of Community Development Block Grant, or CDBG funds.
Those funds are administered by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and can be applied to a wide variety of such things as infrastructure, economic development projects, public facilities installation, community centers, housing rehab, public services and the like. The choices are up to the community, and that’s where the Community Needs Survey comes in. In Sheboygan, the survey is focusing on housing, services for the unhoused, community services, local business support and facilities.
The survey is underway now, and it can either be submitted online or printed, completed and dropped off at City Hall, Suite 208 before the close of business on Halloween day.
