SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Another 9 persons received positive test results for COVID-19 since Monday, raising the county total to 896 as of 2PM Tuesday. 23 more persons recovered, leaving 91 active cases, the lowest since the same number was recorded on July 13th. 6 of those current cases are hospitalized. The peak hospitalization rate in Sheboygan County was reached Monday when 7 persons were receiving hospital care, and 6 persons were also hospitalized on August 10th, 11th and 12th. A total of 797 persons who’ve experienced the disease have recovered, while 8 succumbed to the illness. One of those individuals was in their 40s, three in their 60s, two were in their 70s and two were at least 80 years old.
The relatively low number of total tests results received (162) may be related to the diversion of test supplies to other priority areas within the US, and because of that diversion the County Division of Health Services said that having a lower number of new positives may not mean that the spread of COVID-19 is slowing. And although supplies are limited, Public Health encourages anyone with symptoms to get tested and, if that’s not possible, it is important that you self-isolate if you display symptoms of COVID-19.
Wisconsin added another 634 persons to the list of those coming down with COVID-19. 9,991 persons were tested, yielding a positive rate of 6.3%, and putting the 7-day average at 7.6%. 13 more persons have died since Monday’s report was filed, raising the state death toll due to the coronavirus to 1,052. 53 more persons entered hospitals for treatment of their symptoms, and of the 365 persons currently in the hospital, 124 are in the ICU and 342 are on ventilators
