James Schmidtke, 60, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a 3 year battle with cancer.
James was born December 21, 1963 in Sheboygan to Norman and Janice (Zirbel) Schmidtke. He was a 1982 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School and went on to study culinary arts at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac.
James was the true definition of hospitality, and over the years was employed at the American Club, Blue Harbor, Interstate Café and Kwik Trip. Whether it was on the job or off, he was always concerned with making sure others were taken care.
A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, James enjoyed bicycle racing, and creating wedding flowers.
James is survived his mother, Janice; brother Jasen (Suzy) Schmidtke, uncle Larry (Anne) Schmidtke; aunt Joanne Kintopf; many cousins including Todd (Jenni) Zirbel and Sheila Zirbel Fermanich and her daughter Alyssa; close friends Carol, Tony, Steve, Shirley, Connie and Linda; other extended relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Norman; brother Jeff Schmidtke; uncles William Zirbel, Ronnie (Marlene) Schmidtke, Gerald (Rose) Schmidtke, Kenneth (Janis) Schmidtke and John Kintopf; cousins John Kintopf Jr.; grandparents Elmer and Mabel Zirbel and John (Dora) Schmidtke.
Funeral Services will be held at 4PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. Pastor Tom Gudmundson will officiate. James will be laid to rest at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in his name to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
