A rash of entries to unlocked vehicles in the City of Sheboygan has the Police Department warning citizens to take steps to reduce thefts. The SPD made social media posts on Wednesday about multiple entries to unlocked vehicles across Sheboygan, and they say that virtually every theft from a vehicle has happened because they were left unlocked, giving thieves easy access to anything they see. And that’s another problem…leaving valuables inside a vehicle whether locked or unlocked. Police say that it’s especially important to remove money, purses, firearms and prescription medications when you’re not using your vehicle.
And if losing something from inside the car weren’t bad enough, imagine having that vehicle stolen entirely. That’s happened, too, and again the SPD said that virtually each one of those involved leaving the keys in the vehicle, either overnight, or while running unattended.
Sheboygan Police say taking the simple steps of removing valuables and securely locking a vehicle can make all the difference.
