A social media threat that authorities later determined was not credible, resulted in a “soft lockdown” being imposed on Sheboygan North High School around noon this Wednesday.
At 12:26 p.m.today the Sheboygan Police Department relayed a message they received from the school Principal, stating that “North High is currently in a soft lockdown due to a threat circulating on social media. We have Sheboygan Police Department on site as they are investigating the situation. We take all reports seriously and initiated our lockdown protocol immediately, keeping all students in their classrooms.”
The Sheboygan Police Department then provided security on the exterior of the school, cooperating with the administration to prevent anyone entering or exiting during the operation.
By 1:00 p.m., Sheboygan Police Department investigators along with North High administrators issued an announcement saying that they had determined that the threat circulating on social media was not credible, lifted the soft lockdown and resumed the regular school schedule with Police Officers remaining on-site as an additional precaution.
The message ended by reminding parents that dismissal would be at the regular 3 p.m. time.
