SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – While the changing of the guard in the Sheboygan Police Department appears at a standstill, Mayor Mike Vandersteen says he’s taking it all in stride. In an interview with WHBL News, Vandersteen said that at this point, it’s a waiting game to see what transpires with the expected resignation of current Chief Christopher Domagalski. But, the Mayor said, if the Chief eventually remains with the department, he wouldn’t mind at all.
Vandersteen noted that during his annual report, Chief Domagalski told the Common Council that during the 10 years he’s been here part-1 crime has gone down 55% and “that’s just amazing.”
The Board of Police and Fire Commissioners had been meeting to interview candidates for Interim, and permanent Chief positions, but put off further action at their last meeting. Domagalski is seeking a position with the Milwaukee Police Department, but talks with city hall there are currently stalled over reported compensation issues.
