Dave Repinski was nearly jumping for joy during Monday night’s Sheboygan Common Council meeting. That’s because the Council approved the recommendation of the Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee to amend the voluntary license conditions on his business, Dave’s Who’s Inn. Those amendments reduced the requirement to operate metal detectors to between 10 p.m. and closing on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, and to lift the ban on any underage persons from the premises, which Repinski is attempting to operate as a family gathering place.
The Committee on July 25th was given favorable input from Police Chief Domagalski, City Attorney Charles Adams and others, prompting them to recommend the changes. Last night, the Common Council gave unanimous approval to the move, prompting Repinski’s celebration, and nearly a spontaneous speech, which the Mayor cheerfully stopped by saying: “Dave, I can’t let you speak.” The audience, however, may have said it all in their applause.
