After a welcome dry spell, the rain is back – possibly with a vengeance tonight as the National Weather Service is advising Wisconsin of potential trouble over the next 24 hours.
While the greatest threat is generally south of a Mequon-Wisconsin Dells line, there is an elevated 1-in-5 risk of severe thunderstorms producing strong winds, hail and heavy rain this afternoon in the southern 2/3 of Sheboygan County, slightly lesser (marginal risk) to the north. South of the aforementioned line, the risk is 2-in-5.
Forecasters say that heavy rain is the most likely result here, with the potential of between 1 and 2 inches between 10 tonight and 7 a.m. Tuesday, while even more could fall to our south.
After an additional quarter to half-inch of rain after 7 a.m., the return to better weather takes place after mid-morning Tuesday, with gradual clearing after mid-morning and an eventual high around 70 degrees.
