Governor Tony Evers announced the first distribution of increased payments to counties and municipalities under new shared revenue increases signed into law last year. Those payments now include the new supplemental county and municipal aid, allocated specifically to support essential services such as law enforcement, fire protection, emergency medical services, emergency response communications, public works, courts, and transportation. The agreement represented a generational increase in the state’s commitment to local communities, and it ties local government funding to the state sales tax going forward, allowing for growth in the future.
The total amount distributed on Thursday by the Department of Revenue was $1,510,803,633. In Sheboygan County a total of $16,526,781 was received. A breakdown of the funding is listed below showing the municipality, the existing county & municipal aid, the supplemental county & municipal aid, total aid, and the percent increase.
