The two persons who drowned when their boat capsized in the 53-degree waters of Lake Michigan on July 15th have been identified by Ozaukee County authorities. The deceased were identified as 50-year-old Brian Weinski and his 51-year-old girlfriend, Erin Hartman, both from Machesney Park, Illinois. A third person involved in the incident was rescued. He was identified as 26-year-old Karl Saladino of Beloit, Wisconsin.
The US Coast Guard picked up a mayday call at 9:15 p.m. that Monday evening when a 17-foot fishing boat was caught broadside in 2-4 foot waves and capsized offshore of Ozaukee County. Coast Guard units from Milwaukee and Sheboygan responded in boats while a helicopter was called in from Traverse City, Michigan, recovering all three from the water. The boat was found overturned in the water the evening of Thursday the 18th about one mile offshore and 5 miles north of the Port Washington marina.
