CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – The Chicago Cubs silenced the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 to win their series opener Monday night from Wrigley Field.
Tobias Myers got the loss after giving up two earned runs over five-plus innings.
Willy Adames blasted a solo homer as Milwaukee had its three-game winning streak snapped. The Brewers are still holding down first place in the NL Central at 57-43.
Ian Happ slugged a solo homer and Michael Busch tallied an RBI single to lead the Cubs.
Drew Smyly earned the win in relief after Javier Assad was pulled following a six-walk performance over three-plus innings. Chicago has won three of its last five to stay fourth in the NL Central at 49-53.
