
Robert C. Smith, 69, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday,
July 21, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born August 1, 1954, in Sheboygan to
the late Robert and Dorothy (Heller) Smith. Robert graduated from Sheboygan South
High School and then went on to attend Lakeshore Technical Institute.
On February 26, 1977, he was united in marriage to Colleen Shircel at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Together they celebrated 47 years.
Robert worked for the family business, Scotty Smith Construction doing various jobs in
his younger years and then as a project manager and estimator. Robert retired in 2003
as the President of Sunnyside Inc. and manager of Sunnyside Mall.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hiking in Kohler Andrae State Park. Robert took great
pride in his work and was very proud of the many buildings his family had built over the
years, especially many schools and municipal buildings. Robert was a true fighter, in
1999 he successfully beat cancer and had been in remission for the past 24 years,
which allowed him to spend time with his family, which were his pride and joy and the
ability to create many lasting and cherished memories with them.
Robert is survived by his wife Colleen, two sons Andrew (Jessica) Smith and Michael
Smith, and his three grandchildren, Shane, Greyson, and Hudson Smith all of
Sheboygan. Robert is further survived by his siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 7:00 PM at Reinbold Novak
Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12 th St., Sheboygan, with Decan Mike Burch officiating.
Entombment will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery Mausoleum. Relatives and
friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 5:00 PM until the time
of service at the FUNERAL HOME.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice for all their care and compassion, and the Doctors and Nurses at
the Oncology Clinic that assisted Robert with his treatments.
