MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers dropped their series to the Pirates after getting shut out 1-0 in the finale at American Family Field on Thursday afternoon.
Aaron Civale got saddled with the loss after giving up the lone run on six hits over six-plus innings.
Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell were the only players to record a hit for the Brewers. Milwaukee has lost three of its last five, but remains first in the NL Central at 54-40.
Pittsburgh’s rookie pitcher Paul Skenes improved to 6-0 after striking out 11 batters without allowing a single hit over seven innings.
Yasmani Grandal knocked-in the only run of the game with a seventh-inning double as Pittsburgh has won three of its last five to remain third in the NL Central at 45-48.
The Brewers will host the Washington Nationals for a three-game weekend series that starts Friday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:35.
