MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers edged the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 on Sunday afternoon to win their weekend series from Am-Fam.
Willy Adames blasted a three-run homer, while Christian Yelich scored the game-winning run on a bunt-single in the seventh. Blake Perkins threw out a runner at the plate to end the game and preserve the Milwaukee Brewers’ 5-4 victory as the Crew took 2 of 3 from the Reds over the weekend.
Colin Rea got the win after giving up two earned runs over six innings as Milwaukee remains first in the NL Central at 42-29, six and a half games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Elly De La Cruz and Spencer Steer slugged solo homers for the Reds. Frankie Montas gave up three runs over five innings, while Lucas Sims got the loss in relief after giving up a run.
The Brewers will now begin a seven-game west coast road trip beginning with a three-game series against the L.A. Angels on Monday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL gets underway at 8pm.
