The Sheboygan Common Council has voted unanimously to approve a settlement agreement with former City Administrator Todd Wolf. At last night’s meeting, alders approved a settlement amount of $230,000 to put an end to litigation in the case which has been ongoing for over a year.
Wolf was let go from the city in January of 2023. His suit alleged that City government’s handling of his dismissal involved violations of the first and fourteenth amendments.
Before the vote, Alderman John Belanger questioned City Attorney Charles Adams concerning any restrictions on documents related to the case in order to ensure that the public has access. Attorney Adams responded that the settlement agreement is a public agreement, and it has already been released. However, he advised that there are documents such as those related to attorney-client privilege and personnel records that would still be run “through the typical balancing test in making the determination as to what to release.”
Wolf’s attorney, Jennifer DeMaster said that “We’re very grateful that Council approved the settlement and hope we can soon close this long and arduous chapter for Todd Wolf, his family, and the people of Sheboygan.”
Wolf was the first of several former employees to file employment-related suits against the city over the last year. Former City Planner Chad Pelishek and Former Human Resources employee Katherine Kobs also filed suits, which are still ongoing.
