An active weather pattern is setting up for the first half of this week, and the National Weather Service sees an increasing potential for some of the resulting storms to reach severe limits beginning this afternoon.
A complex of thunderstorms that moved into western Wisconsin early this morning held together, and an approaching warm front will serve to generate a few scattered, but non-severe storms this morning. Forecasters see an increased confidence that daytime heating and the progress of the warm front could maintain and strengthen the main area of storms, helping some of those to produce strong winds and large hail in the Sheboygan area beginning around 2 p.m., with the peak of activity around 7 p.m.. Some of those storms will also be capable of frequent lightning and locally heavy rain.
Following today’s round, Tuesday should offer partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures with only scattered showers and storms, with more heavy rains returning Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
