As seasonal weather patterns shift from cold rain storms to milder – and sometimes wilder – thunderstorms, forecasters are advising the public that a slight chance for severe storms exists this afternoon.
That transition to warmer weather often gets stormy and this afternoon, there’s a marginal risk that some thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts and small hail. There also remains a very low chance for a spin-up tornado.
Earlier expectations of a late afternoon or evening event have been moved up to more of a midday scenario. That means potentially more heat energy, and that could translate to more energetic storms as a result.
For Sheboygan County, the chance of storms exists mostly between 1 and 8 p.m., and afterwards a mild, dry and pleasant weekend should follow with lows mostly in the 50s, and highs in the 60s lakeside, mid 70s inland.
