MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers snapped a three-game losing streak and crushed the Tampa Bay Rays 8-2 at American Family Field on Tuesday night.
Willy Adames slugged a three-run homer and finished with four RBI.
The Rays only managed to record two hits, one of which was Jose Siri’s second home run of the season. Their pitching struggled as well. Starter Tyler Alexander went four innings, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks.
The game also saw the benches clear and a skirmish break out in the eighth inning after the Brewers’ Abner Uribe threw a punch at Jose Siri. The fracas ensued after Siri grounded out to lead off the eighth inning. Uribe and Siri exchanged words near first base and things quickly became heated. Uribe took a swing at Siri, who then swung back.
The animosity between Siri and the Brewers had been building all night, starting when he took a long look at his solo home run off Freddy Peralta in the third.
When Siri came up again in the sixth, Peralta drilled him with a 3-0 fastball, leading to ejections for Peralta and Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy.
It was the second consecutive ejection for Murphy, thrown out of Monday’s game against the Rays for arguing a call.
Milwaukee is back in first place in the NL Central at 18-11 and will go for the series win Wednesday afternoon.
