A Sheboygan home was struck by fire on Monday evening, causing substantial damage, but no injuries. Sheboygan Emergency Dispatch got the call at 7:25 with the report of a structure fire in the 1600 block of Ontario Avenue, and the first Sheboygan Fire Department units were on the scene within three minutes of being dispatched. Crews reported seeing a large amount of smoke coming from a second-floor residence, where occupants had already evacuated.
Firefighters were able to enter the building and extinguish the fire within five minutes. Five residents were displaced by the fire, which caused an estimated $10,000 damage. The cause of that fire is under investigation.
