A Plymouth woman has been charged with election fraud for taking campaign materials from several homes in the City of Sheboygan in February.
On Monday, the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s office filed the charge against Deb Klock of Plymouth after doorbell camera video showed her removing campaign literature of Sheboygan Common Council Candidate Jesse Roethel from several homes on the city’s south side.
Klock told Police she works with the democratic party and admitted to taking the literature from 5 homes, saying she had been participating in campaigns since John Kerry came to Sheboygan and had been trained on the appropriate measures.
Jesse Roethel responded in a release early Tuesday morning, saying in part: “This campaign has been a great experience for me and I will not let the actions of a few people with questionable values and ethics detract from the honor it has been to campaign for the 8th district seat on the Common Council.” About the actions cited in the DA’s charges, Roethel also added that: “These are not the values that make Sheboygan and the 8th district a great place to live. Those
are not Sheboygan values. Sheboygan values dictate that we offer forgiveness and forget if you own up to your shortcomings, admit you were wrong, and promise to do better.”
