(WHBL) – There’s a partisan primary election in one week, and the Wisconsin DMV says they’ll be busy with those needing the identification required in order to vote.
If you’ve got a valid Wisconsin drivers license you’re all set – even if it’s not “REAL I-D” compliant. Other cards are acceptable and the Wisconsin Elections Commission has a list on its website, bringit.wi.gov. If you don’t have the required ID, then your next visit should be to the DMV’s website, wisconsindmv.gov/idcards for a list of the documents you’ll need to bring to the DMV office to get your card.
If you have the required documents you’ll walk out with a voter-ready ID card free of charge. If you’re missing the right documents you can still get a receipt that qualifies you to vote through the ID Petition Process while you obtain the papers you still need. But time is getting short, so if you need the card – don’t wait.
