Snowy and icy conditions greeted area commuters as a quick-hitting weather system moved into Wisconsin overnight.
Wisconsin’s 511 system showed widespread travel troubles with no normal travel, save for several far north, west and south border areas. Snow that began after 2 a.m. had added 2 or 3 inches by 5 o’clock and a Winter Weather Advisory was in place until 8 a.m., with slushy total predictions of around 3 inches near Lake Michigan, to as much as 5 inches near the Kettle Moraine.
Aside from travel challenges, time will be short for clearing the mess from roads, driveways and sidewalks as falling temperatures by nightfall promise to create something akin to concrete wherever deposits remain until melting conditions return on Sunday
