Forecasters with the National Weather Service are expecting significant variation around Sheboygan County from the next winter weather system moving through tonight.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from midnight until 6 a.m. Thursday for anywhere from around an inch or two of slop to as much as 5 inches or more of wet snow depending on your location. Only a few rain showers are expected before midnight, but snow and mixed precipitation should quickly follow.
Those living in the western reaches of the county might get over 5 inches of very wet snow by 6 a.m. as temperatures dip to freezing and below overnight. But milder winds off Lake Michigan’s 35-degree waters should help limit portions generally east of I-43 to less than two inches of snow, given that nearly a half inch of rain is likely to accompany the weather system in those areas.
Fortunately, with partial sun on Thursday, Mother Nature may largely clean up after herself by day’s end.
