SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The daily COVID-19 update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health carried the grim news that another two lives have been claimed by the disease. Eight persons in all have died in Sheboygan County. The latest two victims were age 60 and older, while 1 out of the total was between the ages of 40 and 59 (we errantly reported two had been in the 40-59 age group Thursday).
With 17 tests coming back positive since Thursday, and amid 31 recoveries in a single day, the active case count is down 16 to a total of 182. Of those, two are hospitalized. 569 negative test results were received, 162 of those from routine testing of long-term health facilities. Including Sunday, 110 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed so far this week in Sheboygan County, comprising nearly 18% of the 615 cases found here since the pandemic began.
With trends progressing in their current direction, the Sheboygan County Safe Restart Plan will remain in Phase-2 for at least another week, as assessments of benchmark criteria are posted each Friday by Sheboygan County.
Wisconsin logged another 832 positive case returns in the past 24-hours, raising the state total to 52,940. 14,547 negative test returns were received, marking a decline in the positive test percentage to 5.4%. 15 more persons have died in Wisconsin, and another 47 entered hospital treatment for COVID-19. Of the 255 state COVID-19 patients hospitalized, 108 are in the ICU. Whether in a hospital or another facility, 334 persons in Wisconsin are on ventilators to help them breathe while fighting the disease.
