Amy Belle N. Such, 97, peacefully entered eternal life on February 2, 2024, with family by her side.
She was born on May 11, 1926 in Milwaukee, youngest child of the late William and Alvina Grosch. As a
girl, she enjoyed going to the family cottages on Lake Amy Belle (after which she was named) and
swimming with her three sisters, Helen, Gertrude, and Alice, and brother, William.
She attended Riverside High School in Milwaukee. It was there that she was attracted to the handsome
quarterback of the football team. World War II came along and he went to serve his country and she
went to college at UW-LaCrosse. Two years later, she was taking the train to Milwaukee when it made a
stop at Fort McCoy in Sparta. Boarding the train were soldiers coming back from war. One of them was
the handsome quarterback, Charles Such.
Amy Belle and Chuck were married September 5, 1947. They moved from Milwaukee to Germantown in
1953 to build a house and start a family. She cherished being the mother of her sons, David and William.
As they grew, she worked at Medical Associates in Menomonee Falls, as Personnel Manager.
She enjoyed family vacations, both near and far, especially to their condo in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She
loved flowers, especially Lily of the Valley at Lake Amy Belle.
In 1997, she became a grandma with the birth of miracle baby, Traverse. Following the death of
Traverse’s mom, Amy Belle’s mother skills were once again called upon.
Upon Chuck’s passing in 2005, she enjoyed helping her son William with his restaurant businesses. She
loved to cook and bake. Her German pancake and Schaum Tortes were family favorites.
Grandma Amy loved her family dearly. She also had a soft spot in her heart for all of the family pets,
especially Jack the dog and Gizmo the parrot.
She is survived by sons David and William, and grandson Traverse. Furthered survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives, many friends, and special friend, Sue Sprosty, who helped her and the family
in so many ways.
Amy Belle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, her three sisters, one brother,
and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Dulmes.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (February 16 th ) at 3:00 PM at the Suchon Funeral Home,
Plymouth. Visitation from 1:00 PM until time of service. Interment will be Saturday (February 17 th ) at
11:00 AM at Sunnyside Cemetery, Lannon, WI. A celebration of Amy Belle’s life will be held following the
service at her son William’s establishment, Sherman Station, 622 Maine Ave, Adell, WI.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sheboygan County Humane Society or the Myasthenia
Gravis Foundation of America in memory of Amy Belle.
