Roger L. Voigtlander, age 71, of Elkhart Lake, WI, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2024 after a
3-month continuous challenge to battle back after a stroke in October.
He was born on September 26, 1952 in Spooner, WI. He was the beloved son of the late Clarence and
Lottie (Spaulding) Voigtlander.
Roger graduated from Spooner High School in 1970. He went on to play football at UW-Eau Claire where
he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education. Roger furthered his education at UW-LaCrosse, where he
met the love of his life, Jennifer Hayden. On August 7, 1982 he married Jenny at St. Matthais church in
Milwaukee.
Roger’s children were the most important thing in his life and everyone knew how deeply proud he was
of each of them. He enjoyed the summer months when his kids were able to visit more frequently and
spend time by the pool, playing cards, or learning about his latest art projects. If Roger’s children were
nearby you could be sure he was happy. His granddaughter Hayden brought even greater joy to his
world.
Roger was also a big figure in the lives of his children’s friends. He coached several of their sports,
primarily basketball for many years. As his children grew up, he remained close in their friends’ lives and
was fondly known in the community.
He enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, wood carving, painting, baking, and was always in the middle of a
good book. Roger was a WI Sports enthusiast and always needed to watch his Badgers. Roger was
quietly hilarious and known for his one-liners. He was always ready with a new fact (“fact check that”) to
keep you thinking. Roger was known as a skilled handyman, helping with projects around everyone’s
house at a moment’s notice. Roger was a kind, loving, and wonderful man.
Survivors include his wife, Jenny; Son, Adam (Sadie) of California; Daughters, Morgan (AJ) of Chicago and
Amanda of Milwaukee; Granddaughter, Hayden; his siblings, Stanley (Kathy) Voigtlander, Cheryl (Mike)
McDonald, LaVonne Wilder, and Sheldon (Kathy) Voigtlander; sister-in-law, Sue Voigtlander; his beloved
dog and best pal, Buddy; and many grand dogs, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Tom and Diana Hayden; and brother, Arthur
“Art” Voigtlander.
Visitation will be held on Saturday (February 10) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 10:00
