Ozaukee County emergency services has a status which no other in the State of Wisconsin has: their 911 Emergency Medical Dispatch Center is the only such facility in Wisconsin that is Accredited. The re-accreditation just announced renews a status first achieved four years ago, and sets the agency aside as one of only 185 Emergency Dispatch Centers in the world accredited by the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch.
Sheriff Christy Knowles said that the reaccreditation continues to show the dedication dispatchers have to providing the best possible care to the people they serve, helping to make Ozaukee County a safer place to live, work and socialize. Knowles added that maintaining accreditation status isn’t easy; of 282 agencies in 46 countries having achieved the honor in the last 32 years, only 185 remain. Knowles credited the emergency dispatch staff for keeping standards high.
