Ernest “Ernie” Blok, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan with his wife by his side.
Ernest was born July 28, 1942 in Sheboygan, the son of Abraham and Maude (Cevaal) Blok. He attended Oostburg Christian and Oostburg High School.
On May 12, 1979, Ernie was united in marriage with the love of his life, Dorothy “Dodie” Brandt at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg.
Ernie was a 35 year employee of Simplicity Manufacturing, retiring in 2005.
A former member of First Christian Reformed Church, Ernie was a current member of Crossroads Community Church in Sheboygan. Ernie enjoyed helping others; he led the Cadets and enjoyed volunteering on church mission trips and as a counselor at Royal Family Kids Camp. Ernie loved lawn care and proudly cut the lawns at Oostburg Cemetery, Hartman Cemetery and Crossroads Community Church. An avid woodworker, Ernie created countless pieces on his lathe that his family will cherish for years to come.
Ernie is survived by his wife Dodie and their daughters: Tracy Homer of Knoxville, TN and Tina (Jason) LaGow of Delavan; grandchildren Andrei Homer and Marissa and Abraham LaGow; brother Glen (Judy) Blok of Menomonee Falls; sisters Margaret Ogez of Spring Hill, TN, Ellen McNeese and Phyllis (Carl) Nyhof, both of Oostburg; sister-in-law Dorothy Katsma Blok; brothers-in-law Keith (Ingrid) Brandt of Springfield, MO and John (Sheri) Brandt of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his sister Ruth (Richard) Schroeder, brother Carl (Delores) Blok, mother-in-law Joan Brandt, and brothers-in-law Jack Ogez and Jim McNeese.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Wenig Funeral Home – Oostburg. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00AM-1:00PM. All are welcome to view a livestream of the service on Ernie’s obituary page at www.wenigfh.com . He will be laid to rest at Hartman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Crossroads Community Church.
