The first four homes of Sheboygan Falls’ Founders’ Pointe subdivision are now ready for sale. The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation was instrumental in fueling the development of the affordable housing community on a parcel southwest of the Highway 32/23 intersection. Groundbreaking took place on May 8th, and at the current pace four additional homes are expected to come on the market each month…fifty-four homes in all. And although initially promoted at prices of “under $250,000” when announced, the first four are now listed at $315,000 each.
The project was made possible in part through an $8 million dollar infusion from the SCEDC’s “Forward Fund” which had major contributions from Sargento Foods, Masters Gallery Foods, Kohler Company and Johnsonville, with Sheboygan County’s ongoing shortage of housing in mind. The SCEDC points out that addressing that housing shortage is key to solving the ongoing shortage of workers needed to fill over 2,000 open, high-paying production positions now available in the County.
