Verna Abler-Eggebeen (Nee Krebsbach), age 95, of Plymouth, WI, passed away
peacefully on December 28, 2023 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in Plymouth.
She was born on January 4, 1928 in New Holstein, WI, a daughter of the late Thomas C.
and Margaret (Schneider) Krebsbach. She attended St. Cloud area grade schools and
New Holstein High School.
On May 28, 1949, she married Gordon Abler at St. Cloud Church in St. Cloud. They
resided in the Plymouth area after their marriage. Gordon preceded her in death on
March 2, 1975.
On September 2, 1977, Verna married Roland Eggebeen at St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church in Plymouth. The couple resided in Plymouth after their marriage. Roland
preceded her in death on October 1, 2004.
Verna was employed with the U.S. Post Office for six years in St. Cloud. She also
worked at Leys Department Store in Plymouth and at the Kubish Building Center in
Plymouth for twenty years.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth and belonged to
the church’s Christian Women’s Society. Her faith in God was very strong, she attended
daily mass until she couldn’t anymore. She was also an active member in the Ladewig-
Zinkgraf American Legion Auxiliary Post #243.
She enjoyed being with people, music, musicals and traveling.
Survivors include her three sons: Terrence (Karen) Abler of Plymouth, Keith (Rose)
Abler of Plymouth, Duane (Ali) Abler of Sunland, CA; daughter: Judith M. (Robert)
Hughes of Plymouth; stepson: Kevin (Cara) Eggebeen of Plymouth; stepdaughter: Karie
(Dan) Green of Green Bay; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one
daughter-in-law: Libbie Abler of Plymouth; two sisters: Vivian Miller and Eloise (Bill)
Barbieur; and one brother: Don Krebsbach of Green Bay.
She is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son: Rick Abler, one grandchild: Maggie Abler; one
step grandchild: Sarah Rachel Eggebeen; one great grandson: Owan G. Abler; two
brothers, Joseph and Tom (Juanita) Krebsbach; one sister: Mary Ann (Joseph) Kubish;
one sister-in-law: Lucille Krebsbach; and one brother-in-law: Al Miller.
Visitation will be held on Thursday (January 4) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in
Plymouth from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM; with Mass to follow at 12:00 PM. Father Larry
Abler will officiate. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Verna’s name for St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church or Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility.
